If we want to tackle the UK’s extraordinarily high levels of inequality, then bringing the socioeconomic duty into force is vital. Instead of slinging mud at departing members, maybe it would be more honest if Theresa May closed down the Social Mobility Commission altogether. Austerity has destroyed useful rungs in the social mobility ladder.
